ABOUT LIAM SMITH

HCPC registered Clinical Psychologist employed at Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust on our psychiatric intensive care unit (PICU).I completed my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (DClinPsy) training at the University of Leeds. Placements included inpatient eating disorders, Neurodevelopmental assessment and Trauma-informed organisations, Acute mental health ward, Cardiology and Teenage Oncology service. My final year elective placement was at the National High Secure Learning Disabilities Service (NHSLDS) at Rampton Hospital. Prior to training, I graduated with an MSc in Applied Forensic Psychology from the University of York following graduating from the University of Hull with a 1st class in BSc Psychology with Criminology. 3 years prior experience as an Assistant Psychologist working within a Specialist Treatment a Recovery Service (STaRs) team with adults in community and inpatient services, and in a CAMHS inpatient service (GAU/PICU). Further experience as a Therapeutic Practitioner within specialized Sexual Trauma residential services working with young females (11-17) at high risk of Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE).Experience as a Rehabilitation Support Worker at a specialist assessment and post-acute treatment hospital for adults with acquired brain injury. Previously employed as a Healthcare Worker at a medium-secure hospital, working predominantly on a male personality disorder ward. Experience also working with violent and sexual offenders before working within the homeless community addressing challenging social circumstances.
