ABOUT KIRSTEN DAVIN
Dr. Kirsten Davin, OTD, OTR/L, ATP, SMS, CAPS, is best known for her longstanding role in education, within academia as a Clinical Assistant Professor and Academic Fieldwork Coordinator for Baylor University\'s Occupational Therapy Doctorate (OTD) program, and also via the provision of continuing education in healthcare and clinical consulting on an international level. Her clinical and continuing education offerings include topics including but not limited to splinting, wheelchair seating, assistive technologies, and beating burnout in a healthcare setting. She is perhaps best known for her longest running seminars, Let’s Roll! The Art of Performing Seating and Mobility Evaluations and Hands On! Wheelchair Seating and Positioning, which to date have reached over attendees. She is a licensed Occupational Therapist, certified Assistive Technology Professional (ATP), a Seating and Mobility Specialist (SMS), and a Certified Aging in Place Specialist (CAPS), with extensive experience in a variety of practice areas including inpatient, acute care, neurology, orthopedics, burns, and more. She is the owner of a successful home health-based private practice, Escape Mobility Solutions, LLC, which is dedicated to evaluating individuals for custom forms of assistive technology, such as power and manual wheelchairs, seating and positioning systems, and augmentative and alternative communication. Dr. Davin is frequently featured as a guest author in Rehab Management, and has hosted a variety of webinars, podcasts and distance learning programs. Dr. Davin graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2001 and received her Doctorate in Occupational Therapy in 2007, from Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions in Provo, Utah. She was the 2016 recipient of the Home Medical Equipment Woman of the Year Award. Dr. Davin also serves as Assistant Fire Chief for the Pleasant Plains Fire Department, in her hometown of Pleasant Plains, Illinois, where she resides.
