ABOUT KEVIN MATSON

I specialize in Acute Care Surgery, Cancer Surgery, and Emergency General Surgery, and I am board-certified in general surgery. Additionally, I completed a fellowship in hepatopancreatobiliary (HPB) surgery, which enhances my ability to provide comprehensive surgical care to my patients. Throughout my career, I’ve worked in Washington, DC, and Maryland within a large multispecialty physician group, maintaining a busy and diverse practice that spans Acute Care, HPB, and Cancer Surgery.I earned my Medical Degree from the University of Maryland, School of Medicine in Baltimore and completed my General Surgery residency at Harvard Medical School in Boston. I furthered my expertise with an HPB fellowship at the University of Maryland Medical Center. Additionally, I pursued a doctorate degree in Neurobiology and Neurosciences at Harvard Medical School.As a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Maryland, School of Medicine, I contributed to the education of resident physicians and medical students. I have also worked as a Medical Consultant with various organizations, including healthcare systems and federal health ministries.My interest in medicine started early, sparked by a fascination with science, especially astronomy and biology. Growing up, I often visited my neighborhood hospital, where I observed the healing power of successful surgeries and the importance of compassionate post-operative care. Since medical school, I\'ve had the privilege of practicing in academic, urban, and rural settings, allowing me to care for patients at every stage of their illness.Outside of work, I enjoy international travel, bicycling, gardening, and spending time outdoors with my daughter.
