About Kathryn Kennedy
I am the founder and principal consultant of Consult4Ed Group (C4E), where I partner with schools, nonprofits, and mission-driven organizations to design and deliver human-centered, equity-informed solutions in education. For more than 20 years, my work has bridged research, practice, leadership, and well-being with the goal of building systems that center people, communities, and equity. At C4E, I lead projects in research and evaluation, curriculum and program design, digital and blended learning, and organizational strategy. Our team also contributes expertise in publishing, media and communications, accessibility, and leadership development. Across all projects, we integrate trauma- and equity-informed practices, SEL, restorative approaches, and wellness strategies to keep the whole person at the heart of education and leadership. My focus areas include K–12 online and blended learning, educator and student mental health, and the role of somatics in resilience and systemic change. I founded Wellness for Educators to support well-being and growth for educators and leaders, and authored The Mind-Body Connection for Educators (Jossey-Bass, 2023). I launched Embodied Change Coaching, which supports educators, nonprofit leaders, entrepreneurs, and professionals in sustaining their own well-being while navigating and shaping the systems they work within. Drawing on training in somatics, attachment theory, internal family systems, polyvagal theory, and compassion-based approaches, I help individuals and organizations cultivate resilience, navigate change, and lead with greater authenticity. I also serve as affiliate faculty and coach for Loyola University Maryland’s Self as Leader program. I hold advanced certifications in somatic coaching, trauma therapy, embodied conflict, and yoga, and am currently pursuing ICF certification.Previously, I served as Director of the Michigan Virtual Learning Research Institute, Director of Research for iNACOL (now Aurora Institute/FullScale Learning), adjunct professor at Johns Hopkins University, and assistant professor at Georgia Southern University. I co-founded the Journal of Online Learning Research and the Handbook of Research on K–12 Online and Blended Learning, and contributed to the development of the National Standards for Quality Online Learning.
