About Karthika Chenmala

AboutI am a translational pharmacology scientist with extensive experience spanning drug discovery, PK/PD modeling, in vivo pharmacology, formulation science, and IND-enabling research, currently serving as a Postdoctoral Associate at Weill Cornell Medicine with prior training at the National Institutes of Health (NIA, NIH).My research bridges mechanistic biology and human-relevant preclinical models, with a strong focus on translating scientific insights into clinically actionable therapies. At Weill Cornell, I lead PK/PD profiling and preclinical development of non-hormonal male contraceptives, collaborating with industry partners to advance orally available small-molecule candidates through formulation, stability, toxicity, and efficacy studies.I bring deep expertise in multi-species pharmacokinetics (mouse, humanized mouse, rabbit), IV/IP/oral dosing, drug–drug interaction studies, and exposure–response modeling, using platforms such as Certara Phoenix, SimCYP, GastroPlus, and ADMET tools. My work includes artificial insemination and reproductive efficacy models, an uncommon and highly specialized skill set in translational drug development.Previously at NIH, my research focused on aging biology, genomic stability, senescence, and DNA repair, where I conducted extensive in vivo and molecular studies under IACUC and GLP-aligned environments. I have been recognized with the NIA Director’s Award for DEIA leadership (2024).With 16+ first-author publications, book editor roles, 867+ citations, and experience reviewing over 100 scientific articles, I bring both scientific depth and leadership to interdisciplinary teams across academia and industry. Core Expertise:Translational Pharmacology | PK/PD & DMPK | In Vivo Models | IND-Enabling Studies | Drug Discovery | Formulation & Drug Delivery | ADMET | Molecular Biology | Regulatory-Aligned Research Career Interests:Industry R&D, Translational Science, PK/PD, Preclinical Development, Drug Discovery, and Regulatory-Aligned Research Roles
