ABOUT KARLA MARCHBANKS ONOFRE

Dr. Marchbanks Onofre is a bilingual clinical forensic psychologist who received her undergraduate degree from Chapman University in Orange, CA and her Doctorate of Psychology from Alliant University, Irvine, CA. She completed her predoctoral internship at Corsicana Residential Treatment Center, a residential treatment program within the Texas Juvenile Justice Department. There she worked with some of the most severely mentally ill, incarcerated adolescents in the State of Texas, who suffered from an myriad of psychiatric disorders including Schizophrenia, Schizoaffective Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, ADHD, Autism Spectrum disorders, and PTSD. Her postgraduate work included working within the Texas Juvenile Justice Department’s Crisis Stabilization Unit. She has experience in completing forensic evaluations (Determinate Sentence Offender evaluations in Texas), juvenile violence risk assessments, suicide risk assessments, crisis stabilization, implementing behavioral interventions required to manage violent and aggressive youth within the Crisis Stabilization Unit, and psychological testing (cognitive and personality). Currently, Dr. Marchbanks Onofre is employed with the Department of State Hospitals where she regularly conducts court evaluations, violence risk assessments, suicide risk assessments, treatment planning, and psychological testing, when deemed appropriate. Additionally, she has experience working with patients who are found Incompetent to Stand Trial and patients who are found Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity. She worked in one of the hospital’s polydipsia units where treatment focused on patients who were diagnosed with this medical condition.Additionally, she also has experience in conducting forensic psychological assessments for immigration court including Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) evaluations, U-Visa (visas for immigrant victims of serious crimes), T-Visa (visa for victims of severe human trafficking), N-648 evaluations, asylum evaluations.
