I recognize the strength and necessity of this group and see its potential to be bigger and bolder as the go-to source for America’s AA leaders. It is time to elevate our voice onto the larger scene for long-term sustainability (financial, fundraising, organizational structure), recruitment (encouraging more women and black leaders to participate in the political process), and to stop the systematic removal of mayors for offices they have earned the right to occupy.In Flint, the problem wasn’t just water…the water catastrophe was merely a symptom of a broken system. This is what I’m fighting for. Black mayors (like all mayors) should have the tools, resources, connections, and policies to do their jobs, so I help them to avoid the pitfalls of false media coverage, personal attacks, federal court proceedings, and being unduly investigated while balancing the rigors of their position. Standing with you when you’re tired of fighting the good fight.
