ABOUT KAMINI SHIVHARE

I am a dedicated Cancer Biology and Stem Cell researcher with over six years of hands-on experience in experimental oncology, specializing in the molecular mechanisms of chemoresistance in acute myeloid leukemia (AML). My Ph.D. work at CSIR-Indian Institute of Toxicology Research focused on “Role of Autophagy in Osteoblast-Mediated Chemoprotection of Acute Myeloid Leukemia Cells Against Cytarabine (Ara-C).” My research uncovered how osteoblast-driven autophagy within the bone marrow endosteal niche contributes to drug resistance in AML, highlighting potential therapeutic targets for improved treatment outcomes.Throughout my doctoral research, I developed and optimized 2D co-culture systems to model tumor–microenvironment interactions and employed a wide range of molecular and cellular biology techniques, including Western blotting, flow cytometry, immunofluorescence microscopy, qPCR, and confocal imaging. I also gained hands-on experience with in vivo mouse models for mesenchymal stem cell isolation.I thrive in multidisciplinary and collaborative research environments, with strong expertise in experimental design, data analysis, and scientific communication. My work has resulted in multiple peer-reviewed publications in reputed journals and presentations at international conferences, including Cell Bio 2022 – ASCB|EMBO Meeting.My future research interests lie in understanding how tumor microenvironmental cues regulate immune and survival pathways in hematological malignancies and exploring innovative therapeutic strategies that target these mechanisms.Key Achievements:First-author publications in journals such as Cell Biochemistry and Function and Molecular Biology of CellPoster presentation at ASCB|EMBO 2022 (Washington, DC)Development of a robust co-culture platform to study osteoblast–AML interactions
