The Official Pier Swim Event is supported by Blackpool Council, Blackpool Beach Patrol, Blackpool Transport and Blackpool’s Sandcastle Water Park.AWARDS: I was nominated for the Sunday Times Inspiration Award in February 2004 for my achievements charity work and impact of those on the community. I was one of three put forward and attended a ceremony in London.In February 2006 I received my MBE from our King, then Prince Charles for \"Services to Swimming and Charity\". Loughborough University then conferred an Honorary Doctorate upon me for \"Services to Swimming and Charity\" at a Winter Graduation ceremony December 2006.In May 2007, I was inducted into the IMSHOF (International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame) in the USA.
