ABOUT JOANNA B.

I\'ve had the pleasure of working in the education sector for over a decade now, which has given me countless opportunities of collaborating with parents, carers and children. This has allowed me to work in various roles, including: Assistant Educational Psychologist for Children Looked After/ Well-being, mainstream primary and secondary schools and various voluntary roles. There are a multitude of aspects of psychology which intrigue me, particularly elements where deeper intersectionality can be explored. For example, cultural understanding in the classroom, Children Looked After and the views of parents/carers of children with additional needs. The work I do is underpinned by the BPS code of ethics, contributed by humanistic psychology, which is part of the ethos found from my time studying my doctorate. I cannot forget my own personal values which contribute heavily towards my approach to working with service users and colleagues. I pride myself on being respectful, authentic and solution focused, this can mean reframing the perspective in order to bring around some form of change. In order to bring around change, it\'s important for me to reflect on my own learning. This has afforded me with taking opportunities of CPD, as well as considering how Educational Psychology works in the community.
