ABOUT JENNIFER COSGROVE

Every child deserves a champion and a safe, inspiring school environment where they can belong, learn and grow. I’m driven to help make that possible by amplifying the voices of children and young people, helping others to understand them and supporting the adults around them.I come from Sheffield and studied Psychology at The University of Nottingham, graduating in the summer of 2013 with a first class BSc Psychology (Hons).Following this I moved to the South of France to become an Au Pair before returning to the University of Nottingham to work as a Research Assistant on a project looking at building resilience in 14-15 year olds.Along with working in a variety of mainstream and specialist settings in Sheffield supporting children with additional needs, I went on to join and become a manager within the Sheffield SEND team. Having gained a good level of experience and understanding of the statutory SEND system, I moved into the Sheffield Educational Psychology Service as an Assistant Educational Psychologist before starting my Doctorate in Applied Educational Psychology at The University of Nottingham in September 2017.After 3 years of hard work and an excellent trainee placement at Derbyshire Educational Psychology Service, I successfully completed my Doctorate and gained the new title of Dr Jennifer Cosgrove DAppEdPsy, in August 2020.My first qualified position was Educational Psychologist at Nottinghamshire County Council for which I am grateful for the learning opportunities and experience of working with such a solution-focused and reflective team.I am pleased to be continuing my Educational Psychology adventure with Applied Psychologies, starting in September 2022 and working primarily in the North West.
