ABOUT JAN POWELL

I am an artistic director, theatre director and educator specializing in Shakespeare. I also coach professionals in a variety of fields to improve their public speaking and communications skills. I come to my public speaking work from an unusual background; I have been the artistic director of three Shakespeare companies: Tygres Heart Shakespeare Company in Portland, the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival, and Quill Theatre / Richmond Shakespeare Festival in Virginia. With the expertise developed throughout my successful career as a theatre director, I have created a flexible and highly customized approach to enhance each public speaking client’s unique strengths, developing substance, confidence, and polished effectiveness in their presentational skills. My specialties include leadership imaging, solo and team presentations, organizational communications, and crisis management messaging. My clients include Fortune 500 executives, university presidents, board chairs, public relations experts, physicians’ and dentists’ professional organizations, executive directors, clergy, politicians, management and staff of many types of businesses, agencies, and organizations.
