WMPI is a talent development program with the mission to diversify the landscape of the American classical music field by developing pathways for DC area middle and high school orchestral students from communities historically excluded from classical music. The Washington Musical Pathways\' partners are the the DC Youth Orchestra Program, Levine Music, John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, and the National Symphony Orchestra. This initiative is part of a larger program with the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University, funded by the Mellon Foundation.Jamila leads in strategic planning and implementation of WMPI activities. She serves as lead liaison with partner organizations that provide programs to Pathways students and advocates for a student-centric approach with a DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) lens.
