ABOUT JAGOTAMOY DAS
Dr. Das is a dedicated chemist with multidisciplinary expertise in Analytical, Bioanalytical, Nanotechnology, Materials, and Electrochemistry with long research experience. His research focuses on developing cost effective and highly sensitive biosensors based on nanotechnology for medical diagnosis.Currently, he is a Research Associate Professor at the Northwestern University, USA. Before that he had been working as a Senior Research Associate at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Toronto, Canada since 2012. Prior to that he worked as a postdoctoral research fellow at University of Toronto after achieving PhD in Analytical Chemistry from Pusan National University, South Korea in 2009. He was also working as an Assistant Professor at the SUST, where he taught different courses of Chemistry in graduate and undergraduate programs.He has published his research works in several renowned journals including Science (2024), Nature Chemistry (published in 2012, 2015, and 2021), Nature Communications (published in 2013, 2015, and 2023), Nature Rev. Bioengineering (2023), JACS (published in 2006, 2016, 2021, 2021, 2021, 2022, and 2025), Angewandte Chemie (published in 2018, 2019, 2020, 2023), ACS Nano (published in 2013 and 2020 ), Nano letters (published in 2017, 2018, and 2018), Analytical Chemistry (published in 2007, 2011, and 2013), Chemical Communications (published in 2008 and 2009 ), Lab on a Chip (published in 2013 and 2017), ACS Sensors (2018), Biosensors and bioelectronics (2008), Science of the total environment (2020), Advanced healthcare materials (2016), JPCC (2009), Langmuir (published in 2008, 2009, and 2010), Analyst (2014), Electrochem Commun (2009), and Electrochim Acta (2009) and so on. Many of his papers received extensive scientific news and coverage. He presented his work in different conferences. In addition, he is an inventor of 10 patents. Some of the patents were licensed by a Toronto based start-up company named Xagenic, which was later acquired by General Atomics, USA. Another start up company, named Arma Bioscience, has been established on his research work.He received multiple scholarships and awards including Mitacs Fellowship for postdoctoral research at University of Toronto, Korean research foundation fellowship (KRF) for doctoral study, best poster award.Moreover, he is acting as Editorial board member of the journal “Chemosensors” and working as a guest editor of special issue “Electrochemical Biosensors for COVID-19 Analysis”. He is a member of ACS and advisor of BNS, ESIA, and Northwestern BGS association.
