ABOUT IVAN HERNANDEZ

I have been practicing physical therapy for 25 years, primarily in outpatient orthopedics with a strong focus on sports rehabilitation. I am dual board certified in orthopedics and sports, and have dedicated my career to helping people move and live better.In 2017, I wrote a book called Courage to Continue and completed a 16-city book tour sharing that message. I have been fortunate to serve as an adjunct professor at New York Medical College, and for the past seven years, I have contributed as a sports clinical specialist item writer.For the last 19 years, I have been the director of Executive Park Physical Therapy. Balancing administration with clinical integrity has always been important to me. I have always asked myself one question before making decisions, how would I want a family member to be treated? That has been my guide, even when it meant taking the harder or less profitable path to do what is right.Outside of the clinic, sports and fitness have always been part of my life. I played baseball and basketball in high school, ran half marathons, 5Ks, and 10Ks, and competed in powerlifting, holding New York State records. Earlier in my career, I also worked at St. Joseph\'s Medical Center in Yonkers, gaining valuable experience in the hospital setting.I am CPR certified, and although I was previously certified in the Functional Movement Screen, my approach has evolved over time with new evidence and clinical experience.Above all, I believe in doing the right thing, staying connected to the evidence, and treating every patient with the respect and care they deserve.
