Dr. Umar Iqbal is an Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering and a Founding Faculty Member of the College of Engineering at Illinois State University. With over 15 years of interdisciplinary experience, his expertise lies in autonomous systems, multi-sensor fusion, robotics, control, and intelligent navigation. His research has led to 50+ publications, 1050+ citations (h-index 17) and contributions to MEMS-based inertial systems, GPS integration, automotive radar, LiDAR-based landing zone identification, and sensor fusion for GNSS-challenged environments.Dr. Iqbal has secured over $1.5 million in competitive research funding, driving impactful innovations in intelligent sensing and autonomous systems. His work includes collaborations with MSU\'s EcoCAR team, industry leaders, and research institutes, advancing high-precision positioning and sensor integration technologies.A passionate educator, Dr. Iqbal has developed and taught over 25 unique courses 60 times, covering topics from Multisensor Data Fusion and Robotics to Fundamentals of Electrical Engineering. His research in blended learning and design thinking enhances engineering education. Recognized for excellence in teaching, research, and service, he has received prestigious awards, including an NSF grant, the Dr. George Adebiyi Award for Outstanding Teaching, and induction into the MSU Academy of Distinguished Teachers.Dr. Iqbal is a licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with APEGA and holds a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Queen\'s University. He earned Master’s degrees from the Royal Military College of Canada and Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology, along with a BSc in Engineering from UET Lahore.
