About Imran Khan

My undergraduate degree was in Biotechnology from Integral University (IU). To follow my interest in health sciences, I pursued my Master’s in biomedical Genetics from VIT University. In 2013, I was awarded National Fellowship by the government of India to pursue his PhD in Biotechnology from IU. My doctoral studies focused on the chemopreventive potential of a natural compound from plant origin against colon cancer using a mammalian cell line model system and have targeted the apoptotic cascade, cell cycle regulation, and different developmental pathways. Immediately after completing my PhD in 2018, I joined Bezmialem Vakif University in 2019 as a Postdoctoral Fellow. My initial postdoctoral research focused on translational research, particularly for glioma and brain metastasis, investigating the mechanisms of brain tumors, establishing new effective treatments, and finding new diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers in in-vitro, in-vivo, and ex-vivo model systems. In the past five years, I have authored/co-authored over 20 peer-reviewed research and review articles published in SCI-indexed journals and presented my research work in international conferences and institutional research progress meetings. During my Postdoc, I acquired five intramural research grants as principal investigator. In January 2021, I was awarded the \"Emerging Young Cancer Researcher\" award by the Molecular Cancer Research Association in Turkey (MOKAD) in the 8th Multidisciplinary Cancer Research Congress. Currently, I am working as Senior Postdoctoral Research Associate at Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, University of Nebraska Medical Center, USA. I am working on targeted therapies for pancreatic/colon cancer by targeting TME-cancer cell crosstalk.
