ABOUT HINA J SHAHID

I am a portfolio General Practitioner/ Family Physician with nearly two decades of clinical experience and have worked across the UK, Middle East, South Asia and Europe. My career sits at the intersection of clinical medicine, medical education and health policy, with a sustained focus on equity, governance and culturally responsive care.I graduated from University College London with Distinction in Medical Sciences and first prize in Epidemiology, Sociology and Psychology. I hold an MSc in Public Health from London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and an MSc in Health Professions Education (Primary Care) and BSc in Pharmacology from UCL.My work spans NHS, voluntary sector and private clinical practice, where I subspecialise in women\'s health, frailty care and integrative health, alongside roles in urgent care navigation and medicolegal assessment.Alongside clinical work, I work in medical education as an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at Imperial College London, CBME tutor at Queen Mary University of London and as a GP Trainer. I am also an Appraiser and coach-mentor for NHS North West London.At a systems level, I have held regional advisory and fellowship roles with NHS England to scale personalised care and improve digital access for refugee and migrant populations. I am currently completing a Health Equity Fellowship in North West London.I have worked on digital health for over 10 years and provide independent clinical governance and evidence appraisal for digital health platforms and advise health organisations on equity, strategy and service design.I am Chair of the Muslim Doctors Association & Allied Health Professionals CIC and am a board member and advisor to several national and regional organisations focused on ethnic minority health equity. My research explores faith, culture and structural determinants of health, with a particular interest in Islamophobia and health inequities. I hold diplomas in Islamic Law, Theology and Classical Arabic.Across all my work, I aim to integrate rigorous evidence, ethical practice and socio-culturally responsive care to advance individual and population health and wellbeing.
