About Harshada Babrekar

I am a Physicist by training and worked in capacity of Assistant Professor, Project Assistant and Principal Science Communicator at various places. I have more than 12 years of teaching experience at UG and PG level. I am passionate about science communication, teaching science at various capacities. Received the awards / Scholarships: R. Chndrashekhar Memorial Foundation’s, Late Dr. M. R. Bhide prize for the paper having potential for industrialization, Best Paper Award in the DAE-BRNS-PSI symposium on “Power beams for clean environment and processes”, Bhabha Atomic Research Center (BARC) Mumbai, Departmental fellowship for books which is given to the first five meritorious students, doing M.Sc.(Physics) in the Department of Physics, University of Pune, Lila Poonawalla Foundation’s fellowship for pursuing post graduation with 11 international, 4 national and 1 book chapter on name. Won 2 nd prize at National level in 2017,(by Magic Pot Magazine, Manorama Publication Kerala) for the story written for kids based on science. Written a script for a short film “Bicycle” and acted as instructor which was screened at 7 th International Science and Literatures Film Festival Written few scientific scripts for children for the purpose of various competitions like fancy dress, monoacting. Developed series of videos based on ‘Science at Home’. Written scientific stories for students to understand basic science used in day to day life in better way. I work as referee for international sci journals for ACS, scienecdirect etc, Ex Chief Editor of the quarterly magazine of Lila Poonawalla Foundation called INSPIRA, Worked as Student Welfare Officer at ISB & M, School of Technology, Invited as Chief Guest at Vikhe Patil’s PCMRD on International Women’s Day i.e. 8th March 2014. It was an activity by Rotaract of CMRD, I have completed training of ‘Wholesome Leadership Program’ held at ASHA center, Gloucestershire by Lila Poonawalla Foundation in collaboration with ASHA center, UK and have returned as PEACE AMBASSADOR, I have been felicitated by DASS electrical for academic and extracurricular activities on International Women’s Day on 8th March 2008, I have worked as a secretary for the Indian Journal, Physics Education, a quarterly journal published by Indian Association of Physics Teachers (I.A.P.T.) in association with the University of Pune, Indian Space Research Organization (I.S.R.O.) and Department of Atomic Energy (D.A.E.).
