ABOUT GUDRUN GERMAKOWSKI

I advise companies, investors and management concerning all the aspects of German Employment law • My special interest is in challenging separation scenarios as well as collective labor law. I particularly enjoy clarifying, structuring and shaping issues relating to works constitution law and collective bargaining law. • Experienced in negotiating with works councils and trade unions. I would characterize my negotiating style as straight forward yet always matter-of-fact-based. • A further focus of my interest is the use of external personnel, in particular the field of temporary employment (Arbeitnehmerüberlassung) as well as the differentiation between self-employment and dependent employment. • I am recognized as a Leading Lawyer by Best Lawyers®2021 in Germany and co-author of a commentary on temporary employment The law firm McDermott Will & Emery is a leading international law firm with over employees and over 20 offices worldwide. We cover all relevant areas of business law and offer a full service approach. Our employment law practice is characterized by the fact that it is not only known for its great expertise in the area of transactions, but has always had a strong stand-alone client base due to its exceptional competence and quality. Personally • My specialization began in the third semester of my studies, when my university professor offered me the opportunity to work at his department. Since then labor and employment law, which has many more facets than most other areas of law, has never stopped attracting me. • As co-chair of our pro bono committee, I am committed to the idea of giving back to society. By providing our services to non-profit institutions that do not have any funds to seek legal advice, we can facilitate their indispensable work and make projects possible. • Privately, I am a member of the advisory board of the Stiftung Kinderschutz, an institution that supports the Deutscher Kinderschutzbund NRW e.V.(German Child Protection Association North Rhine Westphalia) in its important work - in daily project work and in providing a lobby for children.
