The Collective is a Black feminist and womanist organization. We believe in different approaches to justice and equity as it pertains to Black women. We, however, believe that first and foremost, we must educate ourselves, we must have spaces that are safe to express ourselves, where we see ourselves in our multiplicities. In curating safe spaces and conversations that would otherwise be difficult or taboo to talk about yet common experience for us Black Afrikan women. In these spaces, we hope the women find support but also an understanding of socio-political framework of gender issues. Since we do not want to stop at the talking level, we are really invested in the education side of feminist issues as well. Education in terms of theories, practice and policies.
