ABOUT GEHRIG SCHULTZ

I have been on a journey the last two years trying to reconcile my deep identification with the oil and gas industry as the energy market place changes. I feared obsolescence as technical demands for onshore seismic acquisition and then hydrocarbons exploration dropped. Would my field disappear? What would I do as an oilman in a post oil and gas world?Not surprisingly, I found my fears of obsolescence to be wrong. The reality was that my geoscience and managerial skills are useful in a much broader scope. Over the years, I had become some focused on only hydrocarbons that I had ignored the opportunities in engineering, minerals and geothermal where geophysics can be applied. So, instead of climbing on the a technical scrap heap, I am rushing to catch up on exciting areas where my knowledge and skills are useful. Tough work but hugely satisfying.I describe myself as a Business Builder with proven experience and unique skills in developing international projects. I work as Technical Entrepreneur focused on using commercial and business skills to commercialize new geoscience technologies particularly to increase the ultimate recovery of hydrocarbons in existing oil fields. I am building a portfolio of new technologies to make onshore enhanced oil recovery more cost effective. My track record demonstrates my skills as a accomplished senior executive who implements robust strategies and delivers exceptional operational & financial results. I have built businesses in Latin America, Africa and Europe over the last 35 years in the geophysical services industry. I have lived in 16 countries, worked in over 40 and visited 115. I have managed processing centers, interpretation teams, new technology developments, seismic crew and modernized & internationalized a former communist stated owned national geological and geophysical enterprise with 3,500 employees.I my heart, I am still the enthusiastic and passionate geoscientist who saw his first seismic crew at 15 years old. I am still happily living my childhood dreams of exploring the world. This is complimented with satisfaction from combining complicated logistics, challenging science, interacting with people from all walks of life and managing a complex business. After nearly 35 years in geophysics, I am still enthusiastically learning about the practice and science of solving subsurface problems.
