ABOUT GAIL BECK

Dr. Gail Beck is the Interim Chief of Staff and Psychiatrist -in-Chief and the Clinical Director of Youth Psychiatry at the Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre. Her current clinical work is on the Youth Inpatient Psychiatry Program. Dr. Beck blogs regularly on Youth Mental Health at and her blogs have been carried by both the Medical Post and the Scientific Parent. She has provided Op-Eds to both Post Media and the Globe and Mail in Canada. She is regularly interviewed by local and national media in youth mental health. Dr. Beck is a Governor and Chair of the Board of Governors at Algonquin College In Ottawa, Ontario. Dr. Beck was Chair of the Board of the Ontario Medical Association in 20••••17 and served as an OMA Director from 2007 until 2017. She served on the Board of the Canadian Medical Association from 2008 until 2014. As President of the Federation of Medical Women of Canada from 20••••06, Dr. Beck successfully lobbied to have the HPV Vaccine funded for young Canadian women. She has also served as the President of the Academy of Medicine Ottawa. Dr. Beck has been the Treasurer of Medical Women\'s International Association and represented that organization at the World Health Assembly and the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women. Dr. Beck has been awarded the Queen\'s Golden Jubilee Medal and the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal. She is a Member of the Order of Ontario for her work with children and youth.
