Providing strategic oversight and expert guidance on global health risks, preventive health measures, public health policies, and emergency public health response systems across UN duty stations, particularly in headquarters and field missions.· Advises the Administration on matters and standards related to public health relevant to staff of the United Nations, including peacekeeping missions worldwide, the New York-based United Nations Agencies and Programmes and military contingent personnel under DPO.· Provides health education and health promotion programs through the development, coordination and implementation of preventive and response activities to public emergencies at duty stations with UN presence.· Develops, reviews and revises various medical and public health-related standards and guidelines on preventive measures to mitigate public health risks;· Provides continuous assessment of needs, planning, development, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and/or updating policies, procedures, standards, protocols, guidelines and emergency plans in response to outbreaks of communicable diseases.· Monitors and analyses world-wide outbreak patterns of communicable diseases and provides strategic leadership in the development and implementation of the United Nations response to outbreaks; Recommends course of action to the Medical Director, including communication strategy and preventive measures, in response to actual or imminent outbreak scenarios affecting UN community.· Support on the development of pandemic and disease outbreak contingency plans and provide guidance on essential commodities required for the management of public health emergencies and outbreaks
