ABOUT DURGESH KUMAR
I am an Assistant Professor at D Y Patil International University, Pune, working at the intersection of Electromagnetics, Graphene Plasmonics, and Terahertz (THz) technologies. My passion lies in building reconfigurable THz devices from antennas to absorbers that can power the future of 6G communication, advanced sensing, security imaging, and renewable energy harvesting. I am having research expertise in reconfigurable terahertz (THz) devices, including antennas, absorbers, and solar thermal absorbers. My work focuses on developing tunable THz components using hybrid metal–graphene resonators, exploring the interaction between metallic dipolar resonances and graphene surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) to achieve advanced frequency control and high-performance device design. With a strong background in computational electromagnetic simulations (CST Microwave Studio, Ansys HFSS), I have contributed to the development of next-generation THz devices for applications in wireless communication, sensing, and energy harvesting. My research portfolio includes seven SCI-indexed journal publications, featuring articles in Transactions on Plasma Science, Journal of Applied Physics, Nano Communication Networks, Optical Communication, Plasmonics, and Optical Engineering, along with three international conference presentations and two granted Indian patents in energy harvesting and metamaterial-based absorbers.I completed my Ph.D. in Electronics and Communication Engineering from the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Patna, where my research was centered on tunable THz antennas and absorbers. I also earned my M.Tech in Communication Systems from NIT Patna and B.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Biju Patnaik Technical University. Beyond research, I have more than Two and a half years of teaching experience, guiding undergraduate students in core electronics and communication subjects. I am passionate about advancing innovation in terahertz technology, nanophotonics, and electromagnetic engineering, while also mentoring students to bridge theory with practical applications.
