ABOUT DOUGLAS AITON

I currently hold responsibility for Glasgow International College, an institution with over 60 members of full-time staff and students, which helps students achieve the required level to study at the University of Glasgow. This role includes liaising with the partner university, working within quality assurance protocols, communicating with stakeholders such as the QAA and UKVI, and offering assistance to overseas Marketing and Recruitment staff. Responsibilities include: ensuring the day-to-day operations at college-level run smoothly, meeting financial targets, ensuring positive student experiences, managing the available resources and providing strategic leadership to the college itself. Prior to this, I worked as a research assistant within the field of medieval history, particularly concerning revolt and protest in England and France, and taught at all levels of undergraduate provision (including Access) at the University of Glasgow. Specialties: Operational management of educational institutions that work with predominantly international students and non-traditional routes into Higher Education Quantitative analysis and data-based monitoring of academic programmes.
