ABOUT DOAA EL-HADEDY

U.S. citizen and academic microbial molecular biologist with over 9 years of experience in microbiology, molecular biology, genetics, and host–microbe interactions. My research integrates mouse models, advanced cell culture, microbiome analysis, and molecular techniques—including transfection, Western blotting, and functional assays such as ELISA, proliferation, migration, and invasion—to investigate microbial contributions to inflammation and cancer.🧫 My current focus is on the role of the microbiome in human diseases. I routinely work with anaerobic bacteria, particularly Fusobacterium nucleatum, using anaerobic chambers and infection models to study host–pathogen interactions in both in vitro and in vivo systems.🧬 I recently completed an NIH R03 grant proposal exploring the therapeutic potential of Lactobacillus in restoring gut microbial diversity and preventing colorectal cancer. My technical strengths include anaerobic culturing, murine model experiments, microbiome sequencing pipelines, and molecular validation techniques. I also have a strong academic teaching record with over 8 years of experience at the undergraduate and graduate levels, delivering inclusive, active-learning instruction in traditional, laboratory, effective communication and hybrid settings. I am a dedicated mentor to undergraduate researchers and early-career scientists. Currently, I am a Fellow in the ASM Future Leaders Mentorship Fellowship (FLMF), a national program supporting leadership development in early-career scientists.
