In the heart of the Bronx, where vibrant cultures intertwine with the challenges of urban life, I proudly serve as a pediatric intensivist with an unwavering commitment to the needs of the Latino population in this borough, with a special focus on child welfare and child health.I have witnessed firsthand the devastating consequences of a community struggling against adversity, where lives are lost prematurely and dreams are shattered due to systemic issues.Being at the forefront of healthcare and children\'s health has allowed me to identify heartbreaking stories that affect our community, from the loss of promising young athletes to tragic drug overdoses to the tragic impact of heart disease that takes lives too soon.But it\'s not just the medical battles that concern me; it\'s the tangled web of poverty, chronic illness and limited educational opportunities that perpetuate this cycle of despair.In response to these issues, and thanks to my entrepreneurial vision of creating health equity within the Latino community of the Bronx, I have founded several clinics that seek to further my goal of providing healthcare and relief in areas where healthcare is limited or difficult to access.My ongoing commitment is to work tirelessly to change the reality of the Latino population in the Bronx, promoting child welfare and child health as fundamental pillars. By collaborating with healthcare professionals, educators and community leaders, I will continue to build bridges to a healthier and more promising future for our children and their families.
