ABOUT DARIO CASTIGLIONE

I have been fortunate enough to work for, and with, some fantastic organisations during my career, further to my studies for a Masters degree and PhD in (Polymer) Chemistry. I have continued my professional development by becoming a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC) and have obtained Chartered Chemist (CChem) and Chartered Scientist (CSci) status. I support the development of others as a professional mentor, am an assessor for Royal Society of Chemistry applicants for CChem, CSci, RSci and RSciTech designation, and am an Accredited Scheme Assessor. I work with the Head of Profession for Chemistry and Materials at AWE to support over 200 chemical and materials scientists with their professional development. I have been elected to serve on the Professional Standards Board of the Royal Society of Chemistry and am keen to make a meaningful contribution to the future of the chemical sciences discipline. I am a long-term charity volunteer and I am also a charity trustee with a focus on finance and process optimisation. For my own professional development I am currently focussing on leadership skills and am a Member of the Chartered Management Institute (MCMI). As part of my previous CPD I have worked towards, and been awarded, Membership of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining and am also a member of the Society of Chemical Industry (SCImem) and The Royal Institution of Great Britain (MRi). I have been published in peer-reviewed journals and am acknowledged as a co-inventor of several patents. I have also contributed to two books on Polymer Chemistry. My career to date has been diverse to say the least and I have gained valuable experience from each of my roles which I have then been able to implement in the next.
