ABOUT BRIAN BENSON
Dr. Brian Benson has a clinical consulting practice in Sport-Related Concussion and Sport and Exercise Medicine at the BCI Performance Medicine Clinic in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. He is also the Chief Medical Officer at the Canadian Sport Institute Alberta. Dr. Benson has extensive clinical experience in the assessment, management and prevention of sport and recreational injuries (acute and overuse), and has a specialized clinical practice in sport-related concussion. Dr. Benson obtained a Master\'s of Science Degree (MSc) and Doctorate Degree (PhD) in Epidemiology from the Department of Community Health Sciences, Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary, focusing on sport concussion prevention. He is the Founder & Medical Director of the Benson Concussion Institute, and a Principle Investigator of several cutting-edge applied sport concussion clinical research projects. Dr. Benson is an Adjunct Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Clinical Neurosciences, Cumming School of Medicine and Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine, University of Calgary. Dr. Benson is the Head Physician of Luge Canada and Ski Cross Canada, and a Consulting Physician of several National Sport Organizations as well as the Canadian Professional Rodeo Association. He has been the Head Physician of several high performance sport teams including Bobsleigh Canada Skeleton (20••••19), the University of Calgary Dinosaur Football team (20••••13), Alpine Canada (20••••14), and several Hockey Canada National Men’s Ice Hockey Teams representing Canada at the Under-18 Junior World Cup (2005), Under-18 World Championships (2006), Deutschland Cup (2006), Canada vs Russia Super Series (2007), World Junior Championships (2007, 2008, 2010), Spengler Cup (2008, 2014) and Men’s World Championships (2012, 2014, 2015).Dr. Benson is also a second opinion physician of the National Hockey League / National Hockey League Players Association.
