ABOUT BONIFACE HIMA
I am a highly qualified engineering leader with an Engineering Doctorate, Chartered Engineer status (CEng), and full professional membership of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (MIMechE) and the Institute of Acoustics (MIOA). I bring a strong foundation in applied research, systems engineering, and laboratory management, combining deep technical expertise with operational leadership and a proven track record in people development. My career spans defence, applied acoustics, advanced manufacturing, and laboratory-based engineering environments, with a consistent focus on quality, safety, innovation, and delivery against regulatory and customer requirements. My core technical expertise lies in noise and vibration engineering, acoustics, and sensor systems, supported by extensive experience in modelling, testing, and validation across both air and underwater domains. As a former British soldier, I am accustomed to operating effectively under pressure and bringing a disciplined, resilient, and self-motivated approach to leadership and delivery.I am currently strengthening my leadership credentials by working towards Chartered Manager status with the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), having completed the Chartered Manager Bootcamp in December 2024. This complements my hands-on management experience and reflects my commitment to continuous professional development and effective engineering leadership.Despite living with a learning difficulty (Dyslexia), this has not affected me striving to be at my best academically and excelling in my role.
