ABOUT AUSTIN SWAIN

As Partner at EY and Sales Director at EY Lane4, I am passionate about sharing our insight from performance and organisational psychology with individuals, teams and organisations to improve their working lives. I believe that work plays a powerful role in how people understand their lives, the world around them, and the unique niche they fill. Organisations that generate a sense of meaning at work can gain a competitive edge because it will draw out the best from their people. Both my PhD in performance psychology and the extensive research I conducted on competitive stress, mental preparation for performance and group cohesion, mean that I have a thorough understanding of how to help people reach the highest levels of performance. As lead sport psychologist for England men’s rugby team and mentor to head coaches involved in the London 2012 Olympic Games, I have had some phenomenal opportunities to apply my academic knowledge. In business, I leveraged this insight during the 10 years I spent heading up Lane4’s Research and Product department. Today, the skills I honed in elite sport continue to inform the work I do to deliver our innovative products to new clients. Over the years, I have led multiple large cultural change programmes focused on strategic transformation, worked closely with the leadership teams of several ABF businesses, and headed up leadership development programmes for Coca Cola Enterprises in the UK and across Europe. In my spare time, I love to spend time with my daughters and train for the odd iron man!
