After finishing my graduation (MBBS) and post graduation (M.Ch. Neurosurgery) from the prestigious Christian Medical College (CMC) Vellore, I came down to Madurai to join the Apollo hospital in the year After 8 years of my neurosurgical work I left Apollo hospital Madurai to start my new venture - HANNAH JOSEPH HOSPITAL in the year 2008 as an exclusive Neurosciences & Trauma centre, one of its kind in South Tamil Nadu. We were taking up Neurosurgical emergency, Stroke cases, Accident & Trauma cases 24x7. Microsurgery/Endoscopic surgery/CT guided Stereotactic surgery/Navigation guided surgeries for brain and spine tumours are undertaken in this centre on a regular basis. Surgical excision of AVM - arteriovenous malformations and Aneurysm clipping are done using intraoperative ICG/Flow 800 technology. Spine fusions and microdiscectomies are routinely done here using intraoperative Neuromonitoring (IONM). At present, we have 4 full-time Neurosurgeons, Neuro-Intensivist, Neuro Anesthetist (2) & Neurologist / Epileptologist apart from 25 visiting consultants from all fields of medicine and surgery to take care of our in-patients. We have now expanded this facility to include Cardiology & Cardiothoracic surgery, Interventional Neuro-radiology, Functional Neurosurgery and Epilepsy surgery along with Orthopedics & Traumatology at the new 150 bedded campus close to the Madurai International Airport in the Ring road, Chinthamani. We are doing complex CABG (Open heart bypass surgeries) and Valve replacement surgeries along with Coronary Angioplasty (PTCA) in the advanced Philips Dual Cathlab. The In-house 1.5 Tesla Digital (Philips) MRI is the first of its kind in South Tamilnadu. This NABH accredited centre has also started the International Patients Services promoting Medical Tourism.
