ABOUT ANDREW RIMELL FIET
I use Data Science & Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions to help us understand how our engines interact with the environments they fly in, specifically with the mineral dust, sea salt, sulphur and ice crystals in the atmosphere. My primary working language is Python (although I have also worked in Matlab, and R) and also make use of an Azure Databricks Pyspark environment enabling me to take full advantage of adaptable multi-node virtual machines. My recent projects have included the following or made use of the following technologies:• Processing of very large meteorological datasets, correlating these to flight paths and visualising on world maps.• Extraction of data from large SQL databases using Python scripts• Analysis of unstructured text data using Natural Language Processing (NLP) techniques such as LDA and LSI for categorising free text and for creating a tool to search within a large repository of technical documents.• Optimisation of mathematical models using the Nelder-Mead simplex algorithm in Matlab.• Machine Learning using Tensorflow/Keras (with GPU processing) to fit Deep Learning Neural Network models to data for the purpose of predicting future performance.Previous experience includes developing Microsoft Azure applications (using Machine Learning, Stream Analytics, IoT Hubs, Event Hubs, Cognitive Services, Bot Framework, LUIS/AI, Data Lake storage and Power BI) and using Informatica PowerCenter to combine numerous data sources (ETL). I have also developed prototype high security encrypted (AES-256 bit) IoT solutions using Arduino ESP8266 devices (Adafruit Huzzah and NodeMCU) and working in C.Other skills include DSP algorithm design for Audio/Visual/Vibration applications, using C/C++, MATLAB/Simulink, LabVIEW, programming of Arm Cortex-M4 embedded microcontroller/DSP systems (STM32F407), auto-coding Simulink models onto TI series DSPs (F2812, F28335, F28027 & F28377S), development of emulation/test equipment using a Raspberry Pi and working with the Nvidia Jetson Nano board.I have won three Rolls-Royce Innovation Awards and two IEE (IET) Premium Awards. I also have Microsoft Azure Fundamentals and Matlab Machine Learning / Deep Learning certification.
