About Aman Srivastava

Dr. Aman Srivastava holds a Ph.D. from the Department of Civil Engineering, IIT Kharagpur. He remained a Prime Minister\'s Research Fellow (PMRF) and a Teaching Assistant (TA) during his tenure at the IIT Kharagpur. He also held the TA position at the National Program on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL), the largest MOOC platform globally. As part of his role, he conducts live interactive sessions for various courses, including Surface Water Hydrology and Water Society and Sustainability (NPTEL video lectures are accessible on his YouTube Channel: Besides, he is also serving as a Volume Editor for the upcoming Elsevier book on Climate-Smart Water Resource Management, focusing on innovative solutions to address climate-related water challenges. Moreover, he serves as an Associate Editor for Frontiers in Climate and as a Peer-Reviewer for several leading Q1 and Q2 journals, having reviewed 119 articles across 36 journals.RESEARCH INTERESTS / PUBLICATIONSHis research interests span climate change adaptation and mitigation, water resources engineering and management, environmental planning and protection, and public policy and governance, with a publication record comprising 41 SCI journal articles, 1 published patent (Government of India), 2 filed, 1 Scopus book (in press), 16 Scopus-indexed book chapters, and 14 international conference papers. His work has collectively received 1650+ citations, with an h-index of 23 and an i-index of 40. DOCTORAL RESEARCHAman’s foremost research accomplishment during his PhD is the pioneering proposal of a fifth classification of drought, termed Environmental Drought, and the development of a heuristic approach for quantifying it through a first-of-its-kind Environmental Drought Index (EDI) using the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project (CMIP) Phase 6. The results were published in the prestigious Journal of Hydrology and presented orally at AGU23 in San Francisco, USA.MASTERS\'S RESEARCHHe completed his Master\'s in 2020 from the Centre for Technology Alternatives for Rural Areas (CTARA) at IIT Bombay (QS Rank 1 in India). He published 4 journal papers from his Master\'s Thesis, each on analyzing traditional tank cascade systems, reviving tanks for climate resilience, developing watershed interventions for rural water security, and assessing land-use changes on hydro-ecological balance. Besides, he also remained the overall topper at the Centre, accomplishing the coursework with rank 1.
