ABOUT ALEXANDER BERG
Dr. Alexander Berg is a Product Owner at TRUMPF for semiconductor laser diodes used in Apple\'s iPhone as a proximity sensor. In this role, he his responsible for the product quality lots for customers in the microchip industry. He is also the main technical contact person for customers and suppliers from Asia. Recently he joined the VCSEL datacom team and consults the project manager on epitaxy (MOCVD, MOVPE) due to his academic and industrial experience. Prior to TRUMPF, he was a technical project manager and product developer with AZUR SPACE Solar Power GmbH in Heilbronn, Germany. He was responsible for the latest 4-junction space solar cell with world-record end-of-life efficiency based on 150 mm wafer technology. Alexander himself conducted the semiconductor layer development for AZUR’s end-of-life design and coordinates several people within the company.In May 2021 he became the \"Technical Officer\" for a R&D project funded by the European Space Agency (ESA) with the ARTES programme. In his role he gave several talks to ESA representatives. He also managed a research project with the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia. Alexander earned his Ph.D. from Lund University in Sweden in 2016 under the supervision of Prof. Magnus Borgström. He studied epitaxial nanowire growth by MOCVD and developed a red light-emitting diode of semiconductor AlInGaP nanowires. During his PhD, he also was a guest researcher at the Australian National University (ANU) where he conducted a research project on selective-area growth and characterization of InGaP nanowires.
