ABOUT ADELE CURRIE

If you care about psychological safety, practical leadership and doing the right thing even when it is uncomfortable, you are in the right place.I write regularly about leadership, HR and coaching from the real world, not theory. I’m interested in what works, what does not and the moments leaders are rarely trained for or don’t have the skills and confidence to do. Follow me if you want support, challenge or to join the conversation.I am a Group HR Director with many years at Director level across sectors including education, Royal Mail, care, freight rail, social housing and charity. My career started far from boardrooms, from grafting on a Brighton fairground to running a small catering business, which probably explains why I value practicality over polish. My work has received meaningful professional recognition, including HR Professional of the Year 2025 at the Evolving HR Conference and being shortlisted for Most Inspirational HR Leader at the Wellbeing Awards in 2023. Recognition matters, but integrity and judgement are what make it meaningful.I believe excellence in leadership comes down to judgement, courage and accountability. Do the right thing, not the easy thing. Protect your wellbeing from people who do not prioritise you. Assume positive intent, but call things out when needed. It makes life simpler in the long run.My work focuses on:Leadership and coachingCulture and transformationPsychological safety and wellbeingEmployee relations at senior levelI post consistently and engage properly.
