I run software engineering for the San Francisco Giants. My job swings between long-term planning and fixing things that break at the worst possible time. Some days I’m working on new AI tools or helping people think through problems. Other days I’m in the guts of a system that can’t afford to fall over, making sure it survives another season.This year that meant getting our sentiment pipeline live and in regular use, building out speech-to-text tools people actually rely on, and helping put together the club’s first real AI policy with Legal. It also meant digging into the comps system when it started slipping again, rebuilding missing logic, cleaning up years of edge cases, and keeping it steady through a long stretch where failure would’ve been loud and public.I spend part of my time mentoring. Not in a formal program—more in the sense of showing people how to break down a problem, think in patterns, and get comfortable with newer tools and approaches.I also stay active with our Veterans ERG. We grew visibility this year, ran a mix of internal moments, and even helped spark a cross-league veterans meetup during the MLB IT conference.I like work that’s real: systems that have to hold under pressure, ideas that turn into something people can use, and conversations that help teams understand what’s possible. If it makes the organization faster or clearer, I’m usually somewhere in the middle of it.
