About Doug M.
Doug is the Founder and Director of \"Next Gen Journalism,\"a locally focused professional, digital media skill development progam funded by public media stations, colleges and universities around the United States. Since 2013, we have more than 500 program alumni working across media, journalism and communications.My role has evolved. While I build and manage the staff for each project (they are never exactly the same), I work to guide the Next Gen curated community of more than 600 people, helping dissect all the nuanced ups and downs that come with life and work. I have been awarded four international fellowships. They were in 1997, 2003 and twice in 2007, bringing public radio journalism and values to a university in Santiago Chile as well as being selected for a fellowship working with exiled journalists in Dakar, Senegal.I am a member of the Board of Trustees with American Press Institute (API), Chair of the Board for the Center for Collaborative Journalism at Mercer University in Macon, Georgia and a new Board member for KALW Public Media in San Francisco.Finally, I\'m an advisor to the Institute for Independent Journalists.\"Often, Doug can be heard saying,\"Don\'t listen to what people say. Watch what they do.\"
