Doug is a Partner leading the UK Insurance Business Transformation team and Insurance Strategic Cost Transformation solution at EY. He works with (re)insurers and brokers providing coverage for some of the most complex risks facing business and society. Doug helps these firms modernize and simplify their outdated, cumbersome value chains using digital, analytics and new people capabilities to improve profitability, offer a better customer experience and close the protection gap. He has helped design new innovative risk trading platforms, business strategies and operating models which have empowered market participants to become more flexible, scalable and efficient.He has over 18 years of experience leading programs in more than 20 countries to transform distribution, underwriting, claims and operations functions in commercial and specialty (re)insurers and brokers. Doug has also led many efforts to drive cost efficiency and simplification in firms across the insurance market.As a member of our Global Captives practice, Doug has advised multinationals, including energy, life sciences and construction firms, on their risk management approaches and captive operating models. Doug is passionate about the role of digitization in modernizing the insurance industry. He was a founding member and initial Chief Commercial Officer of Insurwave, an EY startup digital insurtech platform for trading multinational marine insurance.
