ABOUT DOUG KLINE
You\'ve spent years building a successful business or career and you\'re wondering how to put that capital to work without becoming a landlord. That\'s exactly what I help with. I\'m a Partner at NC Capital Group — a team of credentialed CRE professionals with deep North Carolina expertise and an investor-first mindset. I work with investors to participate in institutional-quality multifamily and retail real estate projects across the state. As a limited partner, you own a stake in the deal and share in the cash flow, appreciation, and tax benefits — without ever fielding a midnight maintenance call. My journey with real estate started in 2005 when my wife and I bought our first investment property. Over the past two decades, I\'ve built, managed, and exited a portfolio of income-producing assets, learning firsthand how real estate can be just as powerful a wealth builder as stocks-and-bonds-focused retirement accounts. That experience is what eventually led me to NC Capital Group. Before joining NC Capital Group, I spent 25 years in academia, most recently as Distinguished Professor of Information Systems at UNC Wilmington, where I mentored nearly 30 master\'s theses and earned the Discere Aude Award for mentorship. Before that, I worked in the software industry as a Software Engineer, System Architect, and Project Manager, and consulted widely in relational databases and SQL Server performance. That foundation taught me to stress-test assumptions, analyze data honestly, and communicate complexity clearly — which turns out to be exactly what good real estate underwriting requires. If you\'re a business owner, executive, or professional advisor curious about how passive real estate fits into a broader wealth strategy, I\'m happy to have a straightforward, no-pressure conversation. Connect or message me to start the conversation.
