About Douglas Robinson

Douglas W. Robinson, P.E. is a Principal at Walter P Moore with over 40 years of diversified structural engineering design and management experience. He has a perspective and approach which combines the technical understanding of structural engineering with an in-depth appreciation for the overall architectural concepts of function, aesthetic, and coordination. As Structural Engineering Principal in Charge, Doug will typically assist in establishing the best and most economical overall building structural system with the design team. Doug started his career directly out of Georgia Tech with the structural group at John Portman and Associates. At Portman, he worked on projects such the Atlanta Marriott Marquis, Marquis One and Two Towers, Singapore’s Marina Square, Shanghai Centre, and many more in California, New York, and Georgia. After leaving Portman, he joined Stanley D. Lindsey and Associates and eventually became a principal. Projects included a number in Jakarta, Indonesia with the most prominent being the 41 story MidPlaza Centre. Doug worked on hundreds of other projects varying from small Cobb County Police/Fire Stations up to the very largest such as the Grande Lakes Project in Orlando Florida which includes a JW Marriott, Ritz Carlton, two major Ballrooms and high-end Spa and a budget of $600M. Currently Doug is the Managing Director of the Atlanta Office of Walter P Moore. Here the list of projects that he has been involved with also grows, although he primarily works as a Principal in Charge. The Atlanta Office of Walter P Moore is one of 27 WPM offices and has been involved in many projects in Georgia and surrounding areas. We are adept in and focus on many markets which include Healthcare, Higher Education, Sports, Aviation, High-rise, Convention Centers, Hospitality, Museums, and Parking.Specialties: Hands on perspective and approach which combines the technical understanding of structural engineering with an in-depth appreciation for the overall architectural concepts of function, aesthetic, and coordination
