ABOUT DOUGLAS MCGREGOR
A highly academically qualified engineer, but with a pragmatic approach garnered from practical experience in various industries. Over 30 years of instrument, control, safety system and project management experience in oil and gas production facilities, both onshore and offshore. Positions have included periods with operating companies, contracting companies and control system vendors, working variously in project management, hardware, software and field instrument design, installation, maintenance, operations and commissioning. Successful leader of instrument and electrical teams in direct support of the day to day operations of platforms, and of multi discipline projects teams delivering on the longer term, on budget and on time. Leadership and organisational skills were gained as a Royal Navy Officer. Capable linguist, having studied French, Latin and German. Proficient in PC based office software and adept at working to ISO 9001 accredited quality procedures, with broad knowledge gained through working on numerous projects in diverse industries. Activities employed on include: •layer of protection analysis (LOPAs), SIL / IPF assessments, HAZOPs and risk assessments; •alarm management and rationalisation including alarm review facilitation; •project management; • maintenance procedures / plans / systems development / reliability centred maintenance; •package and project / sub-contractor supervision and management; •site surveys, installation and commissioning; •corrective maintenance; •FAT procedure writing and implementation / supervision.
