ABOUT DOUGLAS MAY

As a seasoned commercial real estate executive with more than 30 years of wide-ranging experience, I have established myself as a trusted advisor and transaction specialist within the Calgary market and well beyond. Much of my career has been essentially as a multi-market translator and facilitator; analyzing various market trends and realities, communicating the opportunity and challenges to my clients, advising on the plan then negotiating toward the result. With this approach I have been able to deliver valuable direction and outcomes for my clients, locally, nationally and globally.My very broad and extensive exposure to many facets of the industry provides for a unique perspective. I have had the pleasure to represent some of the world’s leading energy, telecommunication and banking firms and have brokered some of the most significant office transactions in Downtown Calgary over the recent years. Working with global logistic companies to manage their real estate portfolios, provide strategic advice and facilitate transactions, both in Canada and North America-wide, allowed me to develop a deep understanding of numerous and varied industrial markets and requirements. My ability to communicate cross-market and cross-culturally has been gained by managing global office and manufacturing portfolios for technology companies, opening and growing Colliers’ offices in Central & Eastern Europe and advancing the global real estate brokerage industry through my efforts with the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors. As a past Country Manager internationally and a Managing Director for Colliers here at home, I have built, grown and managed teams driven by the success of their clients, their stakeholders and themselves.The relationships and resources that I have developed over the years will continue to accrue to the benefit of me and my clients as we pursue our goals.
