About Douglas Marriott

I am grateful to currently be serving as the Senior Dean of Career Education and Workforce Development at Napa Valley College. In this role I get to work with industry and community partners and career education programs that include accounting; business; child and family studies; computer studies and computer informations systems application; digital design graphics technology; hospitality, culinary & tourism management; LGBT education studies; machine tool technology; technical studies; viticulture & winery technology; welding; and work experience. Prior to joining Napa Valley College I served as the Dean of Adult/Community Education and Workforce Development at Los Angeles Valley College. I believe in responsive program development and student success initiatives to reduce silos and connect support services to those in need. I have also worked directly with industry and non-profit partners to design short-term training to employment and academic career pathways. In 2014, I worked with LAVC Family Resource Director Marni Roosevelt to develop a partnership that embedded family support services into all of workforce training; the academies’ already high job placement rate has increased significantly since the program’s implementation. In partnership with the City of Los Angeles, we established the LAVC Workforce Strategy Center in 2017, a network for all America Job Centers of California in Los Angeles County, and the first and only community college to work with the entire City of Los Angeles Workforce Development system to develop employer-driven programs that lead to in-demand careers. I feel very fortunate to work in Career Education & Workforce Development at Napa Valley College!
