About Douglas Lin
I am an emerging computational biologist, aiming to direct the transformative power of computers towards biological problems to treat incurable diseases. As a scientist, I am currently a protein research assistant in the Baker Lab (2024 Nobel Laureate in Chemistry), where I am working on automatically mining biological data from research papers using LLMs. I recently published a paper on extending the capabilities of commercial simulation software to stochastically model quorum-sensing systems. During my time at SSP, I co-discovered novel mutations in Vibrio natrigens that confer antibiotic resistance during my time at SSP. As a leader, I founded and led Kentucky\'s first International Genetically Engineered Machine (iGEM) team to win a Gold Medal in Paris and in funding. We identified two potential new mechanisms of PFAS-induced carcinogenesis, and the team is still working hard to characterize the interactions. I love to learn and make, so feel free to reach out at d•••••@cs.washington.edu!
