Mighty Oaks helps veterans, first responders, and their families overcome the hardships of service and deployment. It has an approximate annual budget of $6+ Million. Their primary program is peer-led by trained leaders who have been through the program and have found healing and purpose. Though faith based, it’s not pushy. The main goal is to help participants find purpose, meaning, and perspective for their lives. It’s one of the most successful programs at helping suicidal and hopeless veterans. My role on the board, in addition to normal governance, is providing strategic and operational advice to key leadership. I also participate weekly at a local “outpost” with those who have been through the program and want to maintain fellowship with fellow veterans and first responders
