About Doug Demarco
As an accomplished aviation Leader, I excel in managing aircraft programs, engineering solutions, organizational change, and team development. I have long experience in airline and MRO maintenance, operations, modification, and repair for large commercial and military aircraft fleets. I am passionate about people, aviation program design, and engineering. I hold an FCC General Class License, FAA Airframe and Powerplant License, and an aviation degree, and I have taken numerous seminars at Harvard Business School, including Negotiation Mastery. Training includes Boeing, CFM, and Leadership courses. Leveraging proven communications, leadership, and interpersonal skills, I am known for building, developing, and leading peak-performing teams in FAA Part 121, Part 145, and Military Aerospace organizations. I have created team member development plans and materials covering aircraft diagnostics, performance, engineering, and maintenance. I focus on driving compliance with all user/client requirements and applicable regulations to provide our customers with the highest level of confidence in the safety of the aircraft. I am currently leading the Powerplant Engineering Team at Southwest Airlines, supporting continuous improvement while managing diverse programs and ensuring health and safety among all team members. As part of this effort, I am responsible for developing budgets, managing documentation, and working with various stakeholders to meet all company needs. Recognized as a thought leader in the industry, I have been honored to represent Southwest at the CFM Working Together Team, Boeing Fleet Team conferences, and smaller expert focus Teams. In my career, I have been involved in developing several aeronautical advancements. This includes designing, testing, and installing a COTS-based inertial navigation system (INS) for an airborne Aerostat platform for the U.S. Army. I also was part of a team that prototyped and installed a vibration monitoring system for the Blackhawk Helicopter. All early mods occurred in Iraq. My comprehensive expertise in Part 121 and Part 145 operations management has allowed me to cultivate trusting relationships with internal and external stakeholders at multiple employers. I am counted on to advise on business decisions, short- and long-term planning, and capital investments. My areas of expertise include Engineering Oversight, Team Building & Leadership, Program & Project Management, Change Management, Turnaround Leadership, Quality Control, and Regulatory Compliance.
