ABOUT DOUG CHILDERS
Doug Childers, AIA, is a senior AE leader and a seasoned architecture practitioner whose experience spans geographies, project types and roles. He has 360-degree knowledge of design practice, including design leadership, business operations and project development. Doug is a natural collaborator who knows that relationships are the life blood of great organizations and complex undertakings. Drawn to the capacities of design to reflect and enable a collective narrative, Doug began his career in New York City in the fast-paced world of fashion retail. He discovered how design can be the generator of an elevated experience through story-telling and craft. He subsequently spent several years focused on commercial interiors, expanding his design vocabulary and an understanding of how the workplace reflects organizational aspirations and influences behavior. After years practicing interior architecture, his experience shifted towards building architecture, investigating a larger scale and altered relationships between programmatic and formal expressions. Organically, his interest and passion returned to urban design, where he rediscovered the capacity of the public realm and human centered infrastructure to revitalize and empower communities. He is currently leading an international project team designing a high capacity rail transit system for the City of Austin, Texas.
