Volunteering as a Court Appointed Education Decision Maker for 12 children at all times,(“Dorie’s Dozen”) is the most rewarding part of my work in the legal industry because it’s all about helping our little ones in a time of critical need. Through the Child Advocacy Project at Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada, I receive opportunities to step in and support children in foster care who need an advocate to show up for them when their needs require individualized handling by their educators and by their support team. It is an honor and a blessing to ensure that a child who is trying to grow up in the face of great adversity has parent equivalent concern for their educational needs. “Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep themselves unspotted from the world.” - James 1:27 (KJV)
